Kieron completes 9 days, 969 mile bike ride mission across the UK
A massive thank you to everyone who sponsored and supported me through my recent bike ride across Britain. Here are some images from the ride illustrating the wonderful scenery on offer across Britain as well as the great team spirit that helped me get through it.
This year’s event was described by the organisers as the toughest in the 8 years it has been running, due to the seemingly constant rain and wind conditions. From a personal perspective days 5 and 6 were very hard due to the problems I was having with my knees and also the headwinds and poor road surfaces. I was also not looking forward to the 127 mile day 7 and I think this must also have been playing on my mind as I was probably at my lowest point at the end of day 6. However, day 7 was a great day with amazing views of Glencoe and with a large crowd of primary school children cheering us in and out of the first pit stop, the miles flew by.
Over the course of the 9 days and 969 miles (plus a few extra for those like me that got lost on occasion) an incredible number of flapjacks, pork pies and scotch eggs were eaten but my favourite statistic is the 10,000 plus bananas that were consumed!
With the help of clients, colleagues, friends and family I managed to raise an incredible £4,300 and our team of 12 riding for the Kick 4 Life charity have so far raised over £57,000.
I would once again like to thank you all for your support. My endurance riding days may be over but for anyone who would like to take on a challenge like this I know the charity are looking for riders for 2019!
